Hypnotherapy is therapy that is undertaken with an individual in hypnosis.  It is a naturalistic approach that uses the client's present resources and strengths to further and accomplish meaningful goals.  Hypnotherapy is often applied in order to modify a subject's behavior, emotional content, and attitudes, as well as a wide range of conditions including dysfunctional habits, anxiety, stress-related illnesses, and personal development. 

Hypnosis is a natural and altered state of consciousness characterized by an extraordinary quality of mental, physical, and emotional relaxation.  While in a hypnotic state the individual experiences a heightened internal awareness and responsiveness to positive suggestions.  Hypnosis is used as a tool in hypnotherapy to bring about positive change by accessing the subconscious mind.  Ideas that have a strong emotional content almost always reach the subconscious mind, because it is the feeling mind.  Once accepted these ideas continue to produce the same body reaction over and over again.  In order to eliminate or change chronic negative bodily reactions we must reach the subconscious mind and change the idea responsible for the reaction.  Every negative behavior is a form of tension, including pain.  Tension and relaxation cannot occupy the same place at the same time.  Through hypnosis, whatever it is you do, you can do it BETTER, feeling GOOD.
